Any Commercial Facility That Cuts Its Electrical Usage 50% In One Year…Deserves A Standing Ovation…Not Only For Their Green Consciousness…But For Fiscally Sound Business Practice.

JAMES RIVER AIR’S ENERGY SAVING WINNER THIS MONTH IS
– THE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM OF RICHMOND.

Children's Museum of Richmond

The Children’s Museum is all about children…and learning…and exploring…and nurturing the magnificent curiosity every child possesses.

Creating an environment that contributes to these goals is what the museum asked James River Air Conditioning to do. That, and helping lasso skyrocketing utility expenses. James River responded with smart diagnostic, smart automated temperature control and smart on-going energy audits. This, coupled with comprehensive preventative maintenance, has reduced electrical consumption 50% at the museum. Gas usage plummeted more than 70% with the James River approach to energy and comfort solutions.

MUSEUM PRESIDENT and CEO KAREN COLTRANE SAYS, “Our utility usage had gotten so high, it took almost 2,000 admission paying visitors each month just to cover the electric and gas bills. We were actually considering cutting staff and programs for children so we could pay the growing utility expenses. Thankfully, James River Air identified our opportunities for saving and we have had tremendous results. Now more of our resources can go to serving our mission.”

JAMES RIVER AIR CREATES SMART ENERGY SOLUTIONS FOR BUSINESSES EVERY DAY.

Over 230,000 people visit the museum each year. They cater to children 8 and under. But one rule is strictly enforced…every adult must be accompanied by a child and every child must be accompanied by an adult.

The Children’s Museum of Richmond hosts the legendary Santa each year from the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve, free to the community. If you want to attend tea with Santa, you’ll need to get your tickets early… because tea tickets sell out every year.

Also this year, the museum’s Gingerbread Festival, including its Showcase of Gingerbread Creations will be on display from December 12 through December 19. And plan on January 30, 2010 to attend the 10th anniversary of Carniball, now free all day with museum admission for children and families. New this year, the Twilight Carniball Gala the night before (January 29) will give grown ups a fun evening in the museum with a unique “experience auction” to raise support to offset admission for economically disadvantaged children throughout the year. So no matter your age, you can play at the Children’s Museum of Richmond.

Kid-friendly events change weekly at the Children’s Museum of Richmond...so it pays to Twitter or keep their website in your favorites folder. www.c-mor.org
